A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join my clients highly regarded team as a Court of Protection Paralegal on a hybrid basis in their Birkenhead, Merseyside office.

The ideal candidate for this role should have the following:

• Knowledge of statutory duties relevant to Court of Protection and deputyship files • Competent in the use of Microsoft word and outlook• Working with electronic case management systems• Working with trade unions• Ability to provide informal guidance to junior staff as required.• The job holder will be expected to conduct and manage all aspects of their caseload, including taking appropriate decisions involving the exercise of judgment, and to carry out work on other team members’ cases as required.

The successful Court of Protection Paralegal will undertake duties including but not limited to:

• To work as part of a collaborative and collegiate Court of Protection team • To assist the Solicitors in the department with their caseload of professional deputyships and professional trusteeships• To draft legal documents including court applications, statements and letters• To maintain relationships with clients, their families, Solicitors, therapists and other professionals on the phone, by email and, when required, in person• Preparation of OPG annual reports • To assist with FLA calls/emails within skill, knowledge and experience• To manage the deputyship and client designated account balances and provide regular reports on spending to the File Handlers• To make payments from the deputyship and client designated accounts as approved by the File Handler• Monthly reconciliation of deputyship and client designated accounts• To manage a caseload of execution only Personal Injury Trusts• To manage a caseload of lay deputyship applications• Opening and closure of files
