Total Staff Services is recruiting on behalf of a leading solicitor firm based in Hoylake, West Wirral, for a Solicitor to join their Private Client department.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an award-winning, highly specialised firm in the fields of mental capacity and mental health law. You will be part of a dedicated team, overseeing a diverse caseload, including financial and health & welfare deputyship applications and Court of Protection cases. You will also play a pivotal role in helping the department grow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of private client matters, including financial and health & welfare deputyship applications, lasting powers of attorney, and Court of Protection applications.
  • Supervise a Legal Executive and secretary, ensuring efficient case management.
  • Work directly with the Directors to meet performance targets and uphold the firm's high service standards.
  • Attend clients, take instructions, and prepare cases while maintaining accurate time and cost recording.
  • Ensure compliance with firm policies, Lexcel standards, and any recommendations from file reviews.
  • Handle sensitive client matters with empathy and professionalism, particularly those involving clients who lack capacity.
  • Assist with general casework and contribute to the department's development.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • At least 3 years PQE in a similar role, with specific experience in private client work and deputyship.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and Court of Protection.
  • Excellent communication, IT, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage a complex caseload and solve problems effectively.
  • Proactive, client-focused, and empathetic approach.
