Your new companyA Wirral primary school in Birkenhead are looking for a Teaching Assistant to join their team based in Year 4. This role will be term time only, Monday to Friday 8.30am - 3.30pm.

Hays are one of the largest education agencies in the Wirral area. We work exclusively with over 65% of Primary Schools in the area, they use Hays supply service for Cover Supervisors and Teaching Assistants very heavily.

Your new roleThis is a full-time position to work 5 days a week (Term time only). Duties will include:

  • Support the class teacher in the classroom by preparing resources and teaching materials
  • Ensure that the children in the class have access to the curriculum
  • Supporting pupil's with SEND & preparing individual resources for pupil's who need them
  • Working closely with the class teacher, planning lessons and activities and assessing progress to create a positive working and learning environment in the classroom
  • Supporting on a small group basis as and when required

What you'll need to succeedThe successful candidate will have had previous experience working with children in the primary age range, particularly with the KS2 age range. Previous experience working with challenging behaviour and learning difficulties would also be an advantage although it is not essential. You will be able to work on your own initiative without supervision and be able to differentiate work depending on the ability of individuals in your group.Ideally the school would like a qualified teaching assistant but a candidate with classroom-based experience within KS2 will also be considered.What you'll get in return
