Description

Team Leadership

  • Manage the Hygiene Team, including holiday requests, absence management, recruitment, and performance reviews.
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to ensure all team members are equipped to meet hygiene standards.
  • Drive motivation and engagement within the team to achieve business objectives.

Hygiene Operations

  • Ensure all cleaning schedules (scheduled and unscheduled) are followed and completed to high standards.
  • Conduct inspections and verify the effectiveness of cleaning activities.
  • Ensure compliance with customer and regulatory hygiene standards, including those of major UK retailers.

Documentation and Compliance

  • Maintain hygiene records, including CICs, COSHH risk assessments, and audit documentation.
  • Regularly audit hygiene documentation and ensure non-conformance's are addressed promptly.
  • Lead customer and third-party hygiene audits, including unannounced visits.

Chemical and Pest Control Management

  • Ensure safe and effective use of cleaning chemicals in compliance with COSHH requirements.
  • Manage chemical stock, usage, and supplier relationships.
  • Oversee pest control operations, analyse reports, and implement corrective actions.

Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement hygiene improvements.
  • Monitor and improve hygiene performance metrics.

Profile

Skills and Experience Required

  • Substantial experience in a food manufacturing quality or hygiene supervisory/leadership/management role
  • Successful completion of UK Retail Customer Hygiene/Manufacturing Standards courses (or relevant experience and the ability to complete courses via Humdinger)
  • Passion for hygiene, attention to detail, and commitment to high standards.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of pest control principles and hygiene chemical handling.
  • Proven ability to prioritise tasks, plan effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills with a track record of developing teams.
  • Level 3 Health and Safety qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience with taste panels and retail customer training courses
  • "Train the Trainer" certification.
