Role Overview: As an Art Teacher at this SEMH school, you will play a crucial role in nurturing creativity and facilitating artistic expression among their students. You will work closely with small classes of students with SEMH needs, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where every student can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging art lessons that cater to the diverse needs and abilities of SEMH students.
  • Use innovative teaching methods to inspire creativity and develop artistic skills.
  • Support students in building confidence and self-esteem through artistic expression.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a holistic learning experience that integrates art with other subjects.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, parents/carers, and external stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience teaching art, ideally within an SEMH or SEN setting.
  • A passion for art and a commitment to using it as a tool for therapeutic and educational purposes.
  • Strong understanding of SEMH and strategies for supporting students with emotional and behavioural challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Resilience, patience, and empathy in working with young people who may have complex needs.
