Sonic Summary

The Shift Engineer position offers a salary of £47,631 with 12-hour shifts on a 4 on 4 off schedule, including 2 days and 2 nights from 7 AM to 7 PM.
Employees will work 7 sets of shifts followed by an 18-day break, totaling 5 such breaks per year, with 2 paid 35-minute breaks during each shift.
Key responsibilities include fixing machine faults, conducting preventative maintenance, and ensuring prompt resolution of breakdowns while supporting project development.
Candidates should have a time-served apprenticeship or equivalent qualification, with experience in a production maintenance environment and strong fault-finding skills.
An HNC or degree in an engineering discipline is required, along with excellent communication and IT skills.

Duties:

Fixing machine faults occurring as part of the normal shift activity.
Fast response to line breakdowns affecting production and liaising extensively with the Extrusion Shift Manager.
Carrying out preventative maintenance activities and routine safety inspections.
Fault finding and diagnostics in reactive breakdown or planned situations.
Planned preventative maintenance on a variety of production machinery to include extruders and site services.
Ensure all breakdowns are dealt with promptly and efficiently whilst ensuring that all PPM schedules are maintained.
Support project development
Follow and encourage stringent HSE and standard company practices.
Fully engage with the operations team to provide proactive support to the plant and equipment, maximising production output.

Experience required:

Flexible, highly motivated and driven with the ability to prioritise own workload, possess strong intellect, good logical fault finding analysis capabilities and who can demonstrate the ability to make decisions and empower people to drive actions forward. Results orientated, with ability to deliver results in a rapidly changing environment. Excellent attention to detail.
Will have a time served apprenticeship (or equivalent) and have a recognised qualification in a related discipline (or equivalent)
Possess excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills and be a confident team player.
Experience of working in a production maintenance environment is essential for this role.

Qualifications needed:

HNC or Degree level qualification in an Engineering discipline.
Proven track record in production engineering
Excellent IT skills are essential
