Job Title: Quantity Surveyor/Senior Estimator (Build & Civils)
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor/Senior Estimator with a strong background in both building and civil engineering to join our dynamic and well-established construction company. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional to play a key role in delivering high-quality projects across a diverse portfolio of commercial and civil engineering works.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate cost estimates and budgets for building and civil engineering projects, ensuring value for money and competitive pricing.
- Tender Preparation: Manage and deliver tenders, including liaising with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to obtain the necessary pricing and information.
- Contract Administration: Review and assess contract documentation, ensuring compliance with project specifications and contractual terms.
- Cost Management: Oversee project costs and budgets, identifying cost-saving opportunities and ensuring financial control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Project Coordination: Work closely with project managers, site teams, and clients to ensure timely delivery of projects within budget and to the highest quality standards.
- Risk Analysis: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to promote collaboration and long-term partnerships.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Estimator in the construction industry, with a focus on both building and civil engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
- Experience in preparing tenders, cost plans, and budgets for a wide range of projects.
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills, with attention to detail.
- Proficient in using estimating software and Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline (e.g., HNC/HND, degree, or equivalent).
- Membership in a professional body such as RICS or CIOB is desirable but not essential.
