Our client, a global development company is looking for a Materials/ Dev Scientist to work on this amazing project working with cutting edge technology; this project is linked to sustainable power (solid state) & could be a game changer in a number of industries. Working in the innovation centre of excellence the successful Candidate will be highly involved in this project. The Role: • Perform basic experimental and technical investigations towards the acquisition of new knowledge. (XRF, XRD, SEM, ICP OES and Ionic Conductivity. • Design chemical, physical, engineering for laboratory-scale tests and protocols, with a view to proving fitness-for-use / product specifications or process validation. Oversees testing may be required.• Interpret and report test results with implications for further design.• Leading full scale up (100kg batch production) • Choose, specify, and acquire all equipment and consumable relating to said technical activity.• Schedule and undertake equipment maintenance and calibration.• Perform risk assessments on new tests and equipment prior to use.• Form links with external suppliers to conduct proving trials with their products.• Establish the need for technology change.• Apply stage gate methodology to projects.• Actively participate in ThinkSAFE, Take 5 and other safety-related initiatives and reporting requirements.• Actively develop IP and maintain project IP within very limited scope of disclosure• Environmental, Health & Safety, Risk & ComplianceThe Person:• PhD in Materials / Chemistry or similar based subject or significant industry experience with a BSc, BEng, MSc (STEM).• The perfect candidate will have experience with ceramic applications.• Experience in (but not limited to); XRF, XRD, SEM, ICP OES, IC) • Scale up experience (physical/ materials/ powder synthesis).
