We are seeking a Road Freight Forwarder with a strong background in Freight Forwarding or Distribution, particularly within the EU trailers department. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a solid understanding of European Road Freight logistics.
Day-to-day of the role:- Process and arrange collections and deliveries in line with arrival and sailing schedules
- Liaise with hauliers, freight forwarders, and customers to ensure timely collection of cargo and on-time delivery
- Maintain clear visibility of stock by working closely with the team
- Chase and provide documents relating to stock and deliveries
- Negotiate rates with hauliers and customers to improve business profit margins
- Handle processing of UK and potentially EU customs clearance
- Issue daily and weekly reports to ensure departmental deadlines are met
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth transactions with all customers
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in EU Road Freight, with a strong background in a Freight Forwarding department
- Excellent communication skills and a good telephone manner
- Proficient computer skills; additional training will be provided for in-house systems
- Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently
- Strong knowledge of customs clearance and European documentation is desirable
