Job Description

Overview

Due to a significant increase in workload, the company requires a Product Development Engineer. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the continuous development, improvement, and optimization of the existing medical product portfolio, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. The role will support the local EPD Engineer with both the integration of new products and the development of variants of current products. You will also be part of a group-wide Technical Team, ensuring that all product groups remain compliant with strict medical regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • BOM Creation: Create and issue BOM's for Production use.
  • Update Technical Documentation: Update current technical files with new variant part codes and features accordingly.
  • Value Engineering: Collaborating with the Procurement and Supply Chain teams to identify cost-effective solutions without compromising product quality.
  • Drawing Creation: Produce CAD drawings and technical specifications to enable manufacture of the new version of product.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring that design changes comply with relevant medical device regulations, standards, and certifications.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Effectively communicating with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Manufacturing, Regulatory Affairs, and Marketing, to ensure seamless integration of design updates and improvements. Support the factory with all technical queries.
  • ECR (Change Control): Carry out ECR tasks such as drawing or specification updates when required.

Education & Experience

  • Education: Higher National Diploma (HND) in Engineering, Product Design, or a related field (Minimum)
  • Experience: 2 - 3 years minimum experience in technical engineering role. Product development management experience is a plus.
  • SolidWorks CAD Skills: Experience of creating drawings and BOM's is Essential for this role.
  • Technical Skills: Strong technical foundation. and other relevant engineering tools. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications: PowerPoint, Word and particularly Excel. Familiarity with risk analysis techniques, medical device regulations, and standards is a plus.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Collaborative Team Player: Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate complex ideas concisely.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulousness in product analysis, documentation, and compliance with medical device regulations.
