Autism Support Assistant - Shepton Mallet

Supporting Autism and Complex Learning Needs | 450-500 per week | Immediate Start

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs? A specialist school in Shepton Mallet is looking for a Autism Support Assistant to join their dedicated team and support students with Autism and Speech Language / Communication Needs.

  • 450-500 per week DOE
  • Providing essential support to children aged 4-19.
  • All the pupils have an ECHP (Education, Health and Care plan) and have been diagnosed with Autism and Speech Language / Communication Needs.
  • Immediate start, full-time (Mon-Fri, 8:30am-4:00pm)

As an Autism Support Assistant you will work closely with in-house therapists and psychologists, gaining valuable experience in a nurturing, specialist setting. You'll have the opportunity to develop your skills, observe professional interventions, and be part of a multidisciplinary team.

This is the perfect opportunity for aspiring educational or clinical psychologists, SEN teachers, or therapeutic support staff. The school is looking for a proactive, compassionate, and adaptable Autism Support Assistant who can build strong relationships and provide consistent, child-centred care.

What we need from you

  • Maths and English GCSE grade A*-C / 9-4 or equivalent
  • Experience working with children in a paid, voluntary or domestic environment - for example tutoring, coaching, mentoring, childcare, assisting in a nursery, or similar experience within a classroom.
  • Confident to converse with parents, students and members of the public
  • Resilient and confident to work with challenging behaviour
