This opportunity will provide you with the chance to work closely with an entrepreneurial CEO, managing the finances for a group of companies whilst also gaining significant exposure to managing commercial projects. My client is looking to recruit a Financial Controller who would enjoy working within a highly driven team in a fast moving environment. The position will involve daily management of a small finance function, working closely with the board on business and finance strategy, producing business plans and financial models that drive insight and support decision making.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Day to day management of finance function and finance strategy
  • Production of business plans and financial modelling for the group
  • Cash and treasury management
  • Provision and development of management information
  • Assist department heads to achieve their KPI’s and budget targets
  • Manage key commercial projects and review business opportunities
  • Manage yearend production of accounts and timetable
  • Compilation and production of detailed management accounts and weekly cashflow forecasts
  • Detailed profitability analysis by income stream
  • All Company KPI and management information reporting as required
  • All aspects of Payroll and VAT including pensions management
  • Responsible for all business controls and compliance matters
  • Maintenance and reconciliation of all ledgers
  • Develop and improve systems and processes
  • Risk Management, insurances and leasing administration
  • Liaise with suppliers, negotiating commercial terms
  • Provision of Statistics and analysis as required by the business

Their culture is one of collaboration to achieve company objectives so part of the role will involve providing finance support for managers and staff including assisting them to develop measurable action plans. In addition to routine duties this role will have a heavy bias towards improving the production of management information. This will include reviewing sales and marketing activity, producing KPI’s and detailed commercial analysis that drives performance and highlights activities that support sales and growth.

The ideal candidate would be part or fully qualified CIMA / ACCA / ACA Accountant with commercial awareness and either previous experience of a similar role or a desire to step up into more responsibility. Applicants must possess strong budgeting and forecasting skills along with the ability to prepare financial models in Excel. The position offers excellent career progression and could lead to a Finance Director level role in the future.
