They are eager to recruit an experienced Practice Accountant to be a key member of the Accounts Team. Reporting StructureThe role will not have any staff reports initially and you will report directly into the Managing Partner Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a significant portfolio of clients including book keeping, accounts preparation, VAT return and liaising with clients
  • Preparing client accounts, notes and queries for a variety of sole traders, partnerships and limited companies between £100k - £10m
  • The Managing Partner will finalise the accounts with the client and advise on adjustments
  • You will be responsible for preparing basic personal and corporate tax computations and returns
  • VAT returns
  • Supporting the smooth running of the office

Person Specification

  • Substantial experience of working within an Accountancy Practice preparing client accounts, bookkeeping and VAT is essential.
  • Proficiency with regard to using accounting systems is essential. Extensive experience of Quick books, Xero, Excel and Sage Accounts would be ideal.
  • Experience of CIS would be advantageous
  • You may be professionally qualified but your experience and personal qualities are far more important than professional qualifications and therefore stopped studiers or Qualified by Experience are equally welcome to apply
  • They don't have the bandwidth to support an active studier.
  • Strong communication skills are essential, on the phone, in writing, with colleagues and peers alike
  • A team player with initiative possessing the drive and capability to support and the smooth running of the office.

Remuneration Package and Terms

  • This role is office based in Preston.
  • Free on-site parking
  • Competitive salary, dependent upon experience.
  • Annual discretionary bonus at Christmas.
  • The weekly working hours are 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Thursday and 9.00am to 4.00pm on Friday.
  • This is a fully office based role
  • Holidays statutory holidays of 20 days and all bank holidays plus an additional 3 to 5.5 days (dependent upon how the dates fall) for the post-Christmas break.
  • Regular social team day outings, usually at least two per year, for example at day at the races or a day out to Escape-Rooms, Christmas market and cocktail making followed by dinner in Chester/Manchester.
