This position offers a fantastic opportunity for skilled drivers to join a dynamic team within a reputable company. As a Class 2 driver, you will play a crucial role in transporting goods in vehicles over 3,500 kg, including trailers weighing up to 750 kg. This position primarily involves local and domestic deliveries, making it essential for drivers to navigate effectively and ensure timely service.
The responsibilities of a Class 2 driver are multifaceted and include safe driving practices in accordance with all traffic laws and regulations. A key part of the job involves the careful loading and unloading of cargo, ensuring that goods are transported safely and securely. Additionally, drivers are expected to perform basic vehicle maintenance, including pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure the integrity and safety of the vehicle. Route planning is another important aspect of the role, allowing drivers to organize efficient delivery routes, often in collaboration with the transport manager.
Record-keeping is vital in this position, as drivers must maintain accurate documentation of deliveries and pickups while tracking mileage. Communication skills are equally important, as effective interaction with dispatchers and team members is necessary for seamless operations. Drivers must stay updated on road conditions, including closures and diversions, and report any delays or incidents to ensure safety and efficiency in deliveries.
The ideal candidate for this role will possess a valid HGV Class 2 license and relevant experience in driving heavy goods vehicles. A strong understanding of safety regulations and excellent verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to pay diligent attention to detail and work under pressure. Flexibility is also a valued trait, as the demands of driving can often require quick adjustments to plans.
