Driver Hire Preston are looking for a Fork Lift Truck operator to work for one of our Preston based clients with an immediate start. Our client is a frozen meat wholesaler, committed to providing high-quality products and service to their customers in the North West. They are looking for someone to join their friendly team, working on site helping load deliveries while operating an FLT.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient movement of goods within their warehouse, maintaining a high standard of safety, and supporting operational needs of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a Fork Lift Truck to load, unload, and store frozen meat products safely and efficiently.
- Transport goods and materials to designated storage areas and vehicles for loading, ensuring proper organization of stock in the warehouse.
- Assist in the preparation and loading of customer orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with health and safety standards.
- Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on forklifts and other equipment to ensure they are in safe working condition.
- Keep the warehouse area clean, tidy, and organized, adhering to all health and safety regulations, especially when handling frozen products.
- Work closely with other warehouse team members to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety issues, or discrepancies in inventory to the supervisor.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience operating a Fork Lift Truck (FLT) in a warehouse environment (counterbalance, reach, or other types of FLTs).
- Valid FLT licence (Essential).
- Previous experience in a food handling or frozen goods environment would be advantageous but not required.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Good understanding of health and safety regulations, especially related to the safe handling of frozen goods.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work in cold storage environments for extended periods (appropriate PPE provided).
