We’re delighted to be partnering with one of our wonderful clients, to recruit a Chief Operating Officer for their UK site based in Lancashire. This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious person who is focused on growth, who will be responsible for operational strategy and management of the business.

In recent years the business has doubled in size due to their innovation, drive and focus. They’ve significantly increased headcount, site investment and capital equipment, had ultimate focus on their product offerings. They’re highly regarded in the industry as a leader in their field.

As the Chief Operating Officer, the role will include:

  • Working together with the exec team, you’ll be responsible for all operational / general management activities across the group providing regular performance and recommendations to the CEO and board of directors.
  • Business strategy and plans for future growth, comprehensive goal setting, business processes, make operational changes to plans to meet business goals, oversee operational cost control strategies.
  • You’ll work to create a co-ordinated, aligned, and collaborative executive team to align operational efforts with overall business goals.
  • You’ll optimize business processes for efficient, manage relationships with partners and vendors, ensure quality, safety and sustainability standards are met.
  • You will be required to stay up to date with evolving laws and regulations that impact the business, in all locations.
  • Manage any disputes or complaints involving the company and collaborate with external legal counsel when necessary.
  • Operate as an influential change agent to deliver transformational objectives.
  • Participate in expansion activities (investments, acquisitions, corporate alliances etc.).

About You:

  • Proven experience in senior leadership roles within manufacturing / engineering.
  • Financial acumen, forecasting and budget development.
  • Strong operational and supply chain management expertise.
  • Communication is key, including active listening, articulation, and the ability to adapt communication to different audiences.
  • You’ll have a high level of integrity and dependability.
  • Ability to motivate a variety of teams with different characters with a clear and inspiring vision.
  • You’ll be an exceptional leader and enjoy coaching and mentoring teams.
  • Strategic thinker with a focus on efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Proven experience in delivering transformational change.
  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving.
  • BSc/BA in Business Administration or relevant field; MSc/MBA is a plus (preferred).
  • Happy with international travel for a minimum of 8 weeks per year.
