Are you an experienced Estimator with expertise in roads, sewers, and groundworks?

Our client, a leading company in the civil engineering sector, is seeking a skilled professional to join their team, specializing in new build housing developments.

As an Estimator, you will support the Estimating Department in preparing groundworks tenders up to the value of 20m.

You will handle tender packages primarily consisting of drawings and specifications, with a strong emphasis on accurate measurement and analysis.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting a comprehensive review of tender scope and raising RFIs as needed.
  • Performing site visits and conducting risk analysis.
  • Interpreting ground conditions from Site Investigation reports.
  • Utilizing 2D & 3D software for take-offs and measurements, including:
    • S104 Adoptable sewers & drainage
    • S38 Adoptable carriageways
    • S278 Adoptable highway works
    • Earthworks modeling
    • Residential dwellings substructure
    • External works and private drainage
  • Securing quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Collaborating with Contracts Managers to review outputs and program requirements.
  • Building rates from first principles and preparing BQ.
  • Assisting in the preparation of tender adjudication and submission documents.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • At least 3 years of experience in a groundworks/civils environment.
  • Strong understanding of groundworks activities, including road and sewer construction, foundations, substructure, and earthworks.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Proficient in interpreting ground conditions and scope of work from drawings and specifications.
  • Proven ability in take-offs, measurement, and rate-building from first principles.
  • Competent in preparing BQ for submission and skilled in using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Familiarity with estimating software such as Causeway or ConQuest is desirable.
