Job Summary:My client are seeking a skilled Transport Refrigeration Service Engineer/Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of transport refrigeration units on commercial vehicles, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation: Install and commission transport refrigeration units on various commercial vehicles, ensuring all components are correctly fitted and operational.
- Maintenance and Repair: Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on existing transport refrigeration systems to ensure efficient operation and prevent breakdowns.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues within transport refrigeration units promptly to minimise vehicle downtime.
- Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to health and safety regulations, including proper handling of refrigerants and compliance with F-Gas regulations.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all service and maintenance activities, including details of repairs, parts used, and recommendations for future maintenance.
- Customer Interaction: Communicate effectively with clients to explain issues, propose solutions, and provide guidance on system usage and maintenance.
Qualifications:
- Education: NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or equivalent certification.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing transport refrigeration systems on commercial vehicles.
- Certifications: F-Gas certification is mandatory. Additional certifications from recognized industry bodies are advantageous.
- Skills:
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics.
- Strong understanding of refrigeration principles and thermodynamics.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights.
