DCS Engineering are currently working with one of our clients based in Lancashire to appoint a head of Sales and Business development. They are a market leader in precision machining of prismatic parts for the Aerospace, Automotive, oil and gas sector to name a few. We are looking for an ambitious, experienced Sales/business development manager who wants to step up to a head of role. The business are currently in the process of further acquisitions so this will see you move into a group sales manager role overseeing the individual teams within each individual group company.

Key Responsibilities:

As Head of Sales, you will report to the Managing Director and be responsible for developing and executing the company's sales strategy to achieve revenue targets. Your responsibilities will include:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy aligned with company objectives.
  • Identify new market opportunities and expand the company's customer base.
  • Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to ensure the company remains competitive.

Sales Management:

  • Lead, manage, and develop the sales team to achieve performance targets.
  • Establish clear KPIs, monitor progress, and provide regular reports to senior management.
  • Drive a culture of high performance, accountability, and customer focus.

Business Development:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, exhibitions, and industry events to promote our capabilities.

Operational Excellence:

  • Oversee the development of customer proposals, quotations, and contracts.
  • Ensure accurate forecasting and budgeting for sales activities.
  • Champion the use of CRM systems to track sales performance and improve customer relationship management.

Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • Proven track record in a senior sales leadership role within the precision machining or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of high-precision engineering processes and industry standards.
  • Excellent leadership, team management, and motivational skills.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Commercial acumen with the ability to translate market insights into actionable strategies.

Desirable:

  • Established network within aerospace, automotive, or medical device sectors.
  • Familiarity with industry certifications (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001 etc) and regulatory requirements.
