Gafoor is a dynamic and rapidly growing family-owned business in Preston. They are a key player in their sector supplying poultry products to leading blue chip manufacturers nationally.

About the Role:

We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Immigration Specialist to join our team on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing immigration applications to the UK Home Office, ensuring compliance with immigration regulations, and efficiently using the Home Office portal to ensure compliance with Sponsorship requirements.

Excellent communication skills and team work are a must for this role as well as a flexible and proactive approach to ensure the needs of the business and our sponsored workers are met.

We would consider consultancy applications as an off-payroll position in line with IR35 regulations.

Please note that the company is not offering sponsorship opportunities, therefore candidates must have the legal right to live and work in the UK to apply for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle Immigration Applications: Prepare, submit, and track visa and other immigration-related applications through the UK Home Office.
  • Submission of applications – Submit applications for CoS codes in relation to skilled workers and liaise with internal payroll and HR.
  • Compliance Management: Ensure all immigration processes meet legal and regulatory standards, maintain accurate records, and stay updated with changes in UK immigration laws.
  • Portal Management: Manage the Home Office Sponsorship Management System (SMS) portal, including issuing and tracking Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) and monitoring employee statuses.
  • Document Preparation: Gather and review necessary documentation to support immigration applications, ensuring all evidence is valid and complete.
  • Communication: Liaise with the Home Office, applicants, and internal stakeholders to provide updates and resolve queries.
  • Lead on any Home Office inspections: Coordinate and Communicate internally and externally in the preparation for inspections and take the lead on inspection days.

About you:

Essential Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience and understanding of employment-related immigration rules and sponsorship processes
  • Strong knowledge of UK immigration laws and procedures.
  • Familiarity with the Home Office SMS portal is essential.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and online document management tools.
  • IT literacy is a must - experience in Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is essential
  • Familiar working in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Self-motivated, proactive with a flexible and positive approach.
