Job Overview:

The Design Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the design process throughout the lifecycle of construction projects. This role requires close collaboration with internal teams, contractors, clients, and designers to ensure the project design is aligned with specifications, budgets, and timelines. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing design activities within the construction industry, with a strong focus on coordination and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordination of Design Activities: Ensure seamless communication between all design teams, including architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
• Design Management: Oversee the preparation, revision, and completion of design documents, ensuring compliance with project standards and regulations.
• Technical Review: Review and assess design proposals, ensuring that the designs meet quality standards and are feasible within the construction process.
• Schedule Management: Monitor the design development and ensure that milestones are met within project timelines.
• Budget Management: Assist in tracking design costs and ensuring the project stays within budget.
• Site Liaison: Attend site meetings and provide support to the project team, ensuring that design issues are resolved promptly and efficiently.
• Stakeholder Communication: Maintain regular communication with project managers, contractors, and clients, ensuring all design-related matters are addressed.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years experience as a Design Coordinator within the construction industry.
• Education: A degree or HNC in construction management, civil engineering, architecture, or a related field is preferred.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction design principles, regulations, and processes.
• Software Skills: Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar.
• Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Problem-Solving: Strong ability to identify design issues and find practical solutions.
• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in reviewing design documentation and ensuring project requirements are met.

Desirable:

• Experience working on large-scale construction projects.
• Knowledge of relevant construction codes, standards, and health and safety regulations.
• Familiarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and its application in construction projects.
