Credit Control Assistant

We are looking for a dedicated and professional Credit Control Assistant to join our finance team. This role is crucial in assisting Partners and portfolio holders with the efficient collection of the firm’s debts, processing accounting data, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality service to both internal and external clients.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external clients to ensure timely settlement of outstanding bills.
  • Manage and escalate client queries to resolution.
  • Conduct regular meetings and calls with Partners, portfolio holders, and other stakeholders to discuss and agree on actions.
  • Maintain and update the debtor’s ledger daily.
  • Issue monthly statements and reminder letters.
  • Classify clients accurately within the practice management system.
  • Perform monthly debtor provisioning in accordance with the firm’s policy.
  • Handle cash collections, arrange refunds, and manage transfers and reallocations.
  • Update the monthly client Stop list accurately and promptly.
  • Support the preparation of month-end tasks and delivery of reports.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties within the Credit Control department.
  • Assist with specific projects as directed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A good general standard of education.
  • Previous experience in a Credit Control department.
  • Professional and articulate with a reliable and motivated attitude.
  • Ability to engage comfortably with people at all levels within the organisation.
  • Willingness to travel, including occasional overnight stays.
  • Confident telephone manner and excellent communication skills.
  • Methodical, organised, and accurate with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • IT literacy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Outlook, Excel, and Word.
