Reed/LTA are seeking an experienced EYFS Teaching Assistant for a full-time maternity cover which starts at the end of September based in Preston based primary school to provide dedicated support within receptionĀ class. The times are 8-30am to 3-30pm. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) as there is high levels of SEN in class. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the team, working to support the diverse needs of the children.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide tailored support to children with a variety of SEND requirements.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to deliver educational activities, adapting to each childā€™s individual learning needs.
  • Assist with the planning and preparation of classroom resources and activities.
  • Monitor and support the progress and development of pupils, providing feedback to the class teacher.
  • Encourage childrenā€™s social and emotional development, helping them to build resilience and independence.
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as speech and language therapists or educational psychologists, as required.
  • Support the class teacher with managing pupil behaviour and promoting positive behaviour patterns.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant, particularly within early years and SEND settings.
  • Understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and experience implementing individual learning plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, children, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive, encouraging approach.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable.
