Year 2 Teaching Assistant

A welcoming and inclusive primary school, dedicated to providing an engaging and supportive learning environment for all pupils is seeking a qualified teaching assistant to support in their Year 2 class.
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to support pupils learning, assist in classroom activities, and contribute to the smooth running of the school.
Role Overview
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the Year 2 class teacher to support children's learning and development. You will also provide some one-to-one support for pupils with additional needs, ensuring they receive the guidance and encouragement necessary to thrive. In addition to classroom duties, you will assist with general administrative tasks to help maintain an organised and efficient learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and interactive lessons.
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils, including those with additional needs.
- Support children's learning through targeted interventions, guided activities, and play-based learning.
- Help to create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Assist with classroom preparation, including organising resources and setting up learning activities.
- Carry out general administrative tasks such as preparing learning materials, photocopying, and record-keeping.
- Supervise children during break times, lunchtimes, and on school trips when required.
- Support behaviour management strategies in line with the school's policies.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and other staff members to support pupils' academic and emotional well-being.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Experience working with primary-aged children in a school or educational setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
- Ability to support children of varying abilities and needs, including one-to-one support where required.
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to working with children.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
- Basic IT skills and the ability to assist with administrative duties.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable:
- A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3, NVQ, or equivalent).
- Experience supporting children with SEND or additional learning needs.
- Knowledge of the Key Stage 1 curriculum.
- First Aid training or a willingness to undertake training.
