About the Company:A leading accountancy practice based in Preston is looking for a motivated Client Manager to join their growing team. The firm offers a broad range of services to a diverse portfolio of clients, ranging from SMEs to larger organisations. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced accountant to take on a client-facing role and progress their career within a supportive and dynamic environment.

The Role:As a Client Manager, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, providing high-quality accountancy and advisory services. You will work closely with partners, leading client engagements, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and developing strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing a portfolio of clients, acting as the primary point of contact for all accounting, tax, and advisory services.
  • Preparing and reviewing financial statements, management accounts, VAT returns, and corporation tax computations.
  • Delivering business advice and consultancy services to clients, helping them with strategic planning and financial decision-making.
  • Reviewing and ensuring compliance with financial regulations, including UK GAAP and IFRS.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior team members, providing guidance and reviewing their work.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships, ensuring excellent service delivery.
  • Identifying opportunities to offer additional services to clients and help grow the firm’s business.
  • Managing workflows to ensure deadlines are met and client expectations are exceeded.
  • Attending client meetings and presenting financial information in a clear and professional manner.
  • Assisting partners with practice management, including billing, fee negotiations, and business development activities.
  • Keeping up to date with changes in accounting and tax regulations and advising clients accordingly.

Requirements:

  • ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with at least 5 years’ experience in an accountancy practice.
  • Proven experience managing a portfolio of clients, providing a wide range of accounting and tax services.
  • Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards (UK GAAP, IFRS) and tax regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in supervising and developing junior staff.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to identify business development opportunities.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously.
  • A commercial mindset and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
