Gafoor is a dynamic and rapidly growing family-owned business in Preston. They are a key player in their sector supplying poultry products to leading blue chip manufacturers nationally.

About the Role:

As our Health and Safety Manager, you will be instrumental in implementing and managing health, safety, and environmental policies. You will ensure legal compliance and support continuous improvement in safety standards across our operations. Excellent communication skills and team work are a must for this role as well as a flexible and proactive approach to ensure the needs of the business are met.

We would consider consultancy applications as an off-payroll position in line with IR35 regulations.

Please note that the company are not offering sponsorship opportunities, therefore candidates must have the legal right to live and work in the UK to apply for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enforce health and safety policies aligned with UK legal requirements and industry best practices
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections to identify and mitigate hazards
  • Deliver safety training and promote a positive health and safety culture.
  • Collaborate with all departments to drive safety and assist them in operational considerations daily and when undertaking larger projects.
  • Investigate accidents, identify root causes, and implement preventive measures.
  • Oversee environmental safety compliance to support overall business objectives
  • Report to the Senior Management team with solutions and strategies for continuous improvement of the health and safety culture.

About you:

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualification in occupational health and safety, such as a masters, NVQ, BSC or NEBOSH national diploma
  • Proven experience in health and safety, preferably in the food industry.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, BRC).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and online document management tools.IT literacy is a must - experience in Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is essential
  • Familiar working in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Self-motivated, proactive with a flexible and positive approach.
