Hybrid - Lancashire (3 Days in Office)

As the first dedicated CRO Lead, you'll take full ownership of experimentation, research, and insights, and play a vital role in evolving the business' testing strategy and optimisation roadmap. With a focus on data, UX collaboration, and experimentation-this is a chance to have a direct impact on a key digital transformation initiative.

The CompanyThis business has been a staple in UK retail for decades, now undergoing a transformation to become more data and insight-led. With investment in customer journey optimisation, modern analytics tools, and a shift from traditional UX to CRO methodology, they're building a high-impact team to drive performance across digital trading and user experience.

The TeamYou'll sit within the wider Online Trading and UX function and report into the Head of Online Trading & UX. The team includes a Data & Insight Manager who oversees eCommerce performance, digital marketing, and reporting. You'll also collaborate closely with the Design team, who now handle UX implementation.

The RoleYou'll be the analytical and coordination engine behind CRO. Your role will be focused on data, trends, and testing-taking speculative ideas, building out experiments, analysing results, and relaying actionable insights to design and development. You'll also play a key role in owning CRO tools, working on campaign strategies, and helping shape best practice within a growing function.

Key Responsibilities:- Own the full experimentation lifecycle-from idea generation and hypothesis building to post-test analysis- Translate speculative insights into meaningful A/B and multivariate tests- Coordinate with the Design team to pass on testing outcomes for UX implementation- Manage and report on CRO performance metrics- Work closely with Data & Insight to understand key behavioural patterns and identify opportunities- Educate wider teams on CRO best practices and optimisation

Sample Questions You'll Help Answer:- Which areas of the user journey are underperforming and why?- What test types have the highest ROI in terms of conversion uplift?- How do we improve our mobile conversion rate across key customer segments?- What content or creative elements drive the best engagement for returning users?

What They're Looking ForMust-Have Skills:- Experience running CRO campaigns using tools like Contentsquare, Google Optimize, Optimizely, or similar- Strong understanding of A/B testing frameworks and methodologies- Ability to analyse results and deliver insight back to stakeholders in a clear, practical way- Commercial awareness with a data-first mindset- Strong communication and stakeholder management

Nice to Have:- Experience working with or alongside UX/design teams- Experience in retail or ecommerce (agency or in-house)- Awareness of wider tools like GA4, Hotjar, or customer journey mapping solutions- Knowledge of HTML/CSS or JavaScript (not essential, but helpful)
