If so, we would love to hear from you!Hays Education are supporting a primary school on the outskirts of Preston, who are committed to aspiring and caring for their children, providing excellence in education and fostering a supportive community for both staff and students.We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced School Business Manager to join our school team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the strategic and financial management of the school, ensuring the efficient and effective use of resources to support their educational goals. You will be responsible for the strategic planning of all areas such as budgets and finance, human resources, facilities and on-site health and safety.This is an exciting term-time only role, working on a part-time basis - three days a week. This interim role can be considered on a temporary to permanent or fixed contact basis.

  • Overall management of all aspects of the school's finances, providing detailed reports to relevant stakeholders and advising on all implications of decisions.
  • Prepare budget forecasts and pupil number trends for the annual budget setting process.
  • Monitor income and expenditure in relation to the agreed budget to actively monitor and control performance and to achieve value for money.
  • Manage the operation of all school bank accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and school policies.
  • Using the school IT systems for maintaining information relating to finance, trips, online payments and communicating with families.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Work closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to support the strategic direction of the school.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, including local authorities, suppliers, and contractors.

What you need to succeed

  • Experience of working in an educational environment, ideally within primary schools.
  • A good working knowledge of Lancashire school systems.
  • Experience of contributing at a strategic level within the senior management/leadership team of an organisation.
  • Experience of managing budgets and finance.
  • Knowledge and experience of managing risk assessments and health and safety legislation.
  • Experience of leading, managing, and motivating staff.
  • Ability to lead and manage change.
  • A commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of young people.
  • Flexibility and willingness to be adaptable.
