SEMH Teaching Assistant Preston ASAP start

Do you have a passion for working with children with SEMH (social, emotional, mental health needs)?

Do you have the ability to emotionally support children who are from vulnerable backgrounds and circumstances?

Are you a resilient character with positive behaviour management?

We are currently looking for a Behaviour Support Assistant at an alternative provision in Preston, to deliver person centred support to individuals who present high levels of complex needs and challenging behaviours associated with learning disabilities, autistic spectrum conditions and mental health problems. You will be working with children and young people who need 1:1 support for multiple reasons, such as:

Children in Looked After Care
Anxiety
Exclusion
Speech and language difficulties
Physical and mental health issues, disabilities and learning difficulties

The candidate must have:

Some experience working with children and young people who display challenging behaviour
Experience of de-escalation training would be advantageous
The school would also consider candidates from youth work backgrounds, or similar roles
Confidence to make decisions
Excellent communication and the ability to build positive relationships with the students
Empathy and understanding
Willingness to enhance skills with professional training and development

TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

GCSE English/Maths at grade A to C or equivalent.
Commitment to all CPD offered.
Team Teach training would be beneficial to this role, however this can be provided for free.

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

Hold Right to Work in the UK
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
Provide a minimum of two professional related references
Provide a full CV from high school to present with all gaps explained
