The RoleAs the Payroll and Pensions Manager, you will oversee the end-to-end payroll and pensions processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a first-class service to staff. This role is pivotal in maintaining operational excellence and driving improvements across the function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all payroll and pensions processes, ensuring accurate and timely payment for staff.
  • Supervise and develop a team, providing ongoing training and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and organisational policies, including HMRC regulations.
  • Deliver accurate month-end reporting, reconciliations, and statutory submissions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to optimise systems, automate processes, and enhance service delivery.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of policies, procedures, and processes.

About YouTo succeed in this role, you will be an experienced payroll and pensions professional with a track record of leadership and process improvement.

Essential Requirements:

  • Substantial experience managing payroll and pensions in high-volume environments.
  • Strong knowledge of HMRC and payroll/pensions legislation, including auto-enrolment.
  • Proven team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • A CIPP Diploma in Payroll Management or equivalent qualification.
  • Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence and drive change.

Desirable:

  • Experience with public sector pension schemes such as LGPS, USS, or TPS.
  • Knowledge of international taxation and education sector payrolls.
  • Familiarity with iTrent or similar payroll systems.
