Food Service Assistant

  • Location:  Hutton, Lancashire
  • Job Type: Part-time, 30 hours per week
  • Salary: £12.07 per hour PAYE
  • Duration: 3 – 6  months with potential extension

We are seeking a dedicated Food Service Assistant to join our client’s dynamic team. This role involves assisting in the preparation and service of meals, maintaining high standards of hygiene, and actively promoting our catering facilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in a busy kitchen environment and a passion for food service.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Assist in basic food preparation including breakfast production, preparing vegetables, fruits, salads, and cold buffets.
  • Ensure all food served is of high quality, mindful of portion control, meal content, and correct temperatures.
  • Serve and present meals and beverages in a friendly and courteous manner, promoting a warm, friendly atmosphere.
  • Undertake temperature monitoring and complete relevant documentation as required.
  • Wash and dry kitchen pots, utensils, and equipment, ensuring they are stored appropriately.
  • Maintain the highest levels of cleanliness and hygiene within the kitchen area, completing the cleaning schedule and daily checks as required.
  • Participate in promotional events to promote the catering facilities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Desirable Food Hygiene and Safety qualification to level 2.
  • Proven knowledge and experience of working in a busy kitchen environment.
  • Familiarity with current food legislation regarding food hygiene and health and safety in the workplace.
  • Experience in preparing food to meet quality, nutrition, and cost standards.
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions, health, and hygiene notices related to food preparation, storage, and service delivery.
  • Proficient in maintaining and recording information clearly and accurately on different media.
  • Experience using computerised stock control systems.
