We are excited to be working with a dynamic and rapidly growing family-owned business in Preston to recruit a quality manager. Gafoor is a key player in their sector operating on a national basis, supplying poultry products to leading blue chip manufacturers and retailers.

The company is looking for a quality manager who will take on responsibility for leading a team of quality controllers within our facility. The primary focus of the role will be to ensure that all products achieve the highest standards of food safety and meet a wide range of customer specifications. The quality manager will be hands-on, driving the quality culture across the business and ensure a focus on continuous improvement is maintained.

This role is not open to candidates who require visa sponsorship to work in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Through visible leadership, ensuring that a positive quality culture is encouraged, continuous improvement sustained, and best practices shared
  • Contribute ideas for the development, implementation and continuous improvement of all quality systems
  • In partnership with the wider team, support the site implementation of all new products, continuous quality improvement projects including the effective execution of line trials and execution of process capability evaluations
  • Assist with internal and customer audits and contact with FSA, EA and onsite OVS
  • Monitor and update improvement plans for customer complaints and non-conformances
  • Provide technical support to QA's, production & commercial as and when required

About you:

Key attributes and skills:

  • Degree in food science or equivalent with experience of HACCP, traceability and general food safety or equivalent on the job experience
  • Experience within a BRC food production / manufacturing site within the UK
  • Strong communication skills and the assertiveness to challenge others where necessary
  • Strong work and team ethic, able to motivate and inspire others
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple priorities at any one time
  • Excellent I.T skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Auditing skills
  • Analytical problem-solving skills
