Generator Service Engineer required. Our client has over 30 years of experience installing, maintaining and repairing a huge range of high-quality diesel-powered generators, from 6.8kVA to 1250kVA. This is for a range of projects including Data Centres, Sports Stadiums and high end domestic/ Social housing. They are now looking for a Generator Service Engineer in the Preston/ Manchester or Cannock area due to the growth of the business.

Successful candidates will have an extensive experience in the field of industrial diesel engines. The primary role of this position is the servicing, repairing and overhauling of diesel engines on a range of in house and external generating sets. Dependent upon the site locations, the successful candidate may need to work away from home on the odd occasion.



Generator Service Engineer Position Overview

  • On site servicing of customer diesel generating sets at locations across the UK.
  • Identification and diagnosis of faults and subsequent rectification and testing of equipment.
  • Carry out temporary repairs to keep the client operational whilst the correct parts are ordered.
  • Partake in the call out rota.
  • Open to other work such as generator installation, fabrication work, and UPS battery build installations.
  • Generator Load Testing and Commissioning
  • Show excellent fault finding
  • Provide basic Generator electrical repairs
  • Attend Factory Training Courses


Generator Service Engineer Position Requirements

  • 3+ years experience working in the diesel generator field
  • City & Guilds / NVQ in engineering advantageous
  • Knowledge of a variety of manufacturer's equipment
  • Clean Driving Licence
  • Served a recognised apprenticeship
  • Experience in diesel engine diagnostics and UPS systems (UPS Systems Advantageous)
  • Happy to stay away on the odd occasion and partake in the call out rota.


Generator Service Engineer Position Remuneration

  • Salary: £15 - £17 an hour
  • Working hours: 8- 5pm
  • Overtime available
