Reed Talent Solutions are working with United Utilities on the search for Meter Readers
We have several exciting opportunities for Meter Readers to join United Utilities. You will visit customers in their homes or businesses to accurately collect meter readings, customer information and any other associated information required by United Utilities.
- Operating Meter Reading equipment in accordance with business processes and escalating issues with equipment appropriately.
- Attending meter sites including within customers premises meeting with customers face to face.
To be considered for this role you will need to have good communication and customer service skills, with a professional demeanour and excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Good geographical knowledge of working area
- Must have a UK Driving Licence
Additional Information
- A Company van, tablet and mobile phone will be supplied to enable you to carry out your role.
- You will be working outdoors in all weather conditions and will be required to enter customers' premises, climb stairs, bend to access meters, lift meter lids etc. In addition, digging and bailing / pumping out water meter chambers will be required. You will also be required to accurately read small numbers in dimly lit areas with the aid of torchlight. On occasions your day could include significant driving, especially when working in the more rural areas and traveling further afield.
- Working alone, you will visit a variety of domestic, commercial, and industrial premises to undertake meter reading and related activities.
- Disclosure Barring Service check is required.

- Contract: Temporary worker via Reed for 6 months, with the opportunity to go permanent in the future
- Hourly pay rate: £12.66 per hour
- Shift: 37 hours per week 12pm - 8pm Monday - Friday and will require applicants to be flexible with working hours including working some Saturdays.
