We have an outstanding opportunity for an Assistant Development Engineer to join a privately owned housebuilder. You will be part of a small team of technical staff who are all based out of their office in Lancashire.

This is a unique opportunity to get involved in a wide range of technically challenging housing sites. You will gain invaluable experience in all aspects of development work and will be involved in pre-planning, planning, engineering and construction.

Main Purpose of the role will be to Assist with day-to-day Engineering matters within the Technical Department.

Responsibilities

  • Coordination and administration of topographical surveys, geotechnical/geo-environmental surveys, CCTV drainage surveys, utility surveys, structural surveys.
  • General engineering support to the Technical Managers, and the Land, Commercial, Sales and Customer Care departments.
  • Assist in the appointment of external civil engineering and structural engineering consultants, and the co-ordination and checking of the consultants designs, including Road & Sewers Design, External Works and Plot Drainage.
  • Coordination and administration of specialist foundation designs and quotations.
  • Coordination and administration of S38 and S278 highway works Agreements, S104 and S102 sewer adoption Agreements and S106 sewer connections applications.
  • Participation in pre-contract, pre-start and project progress meetings.
  • Supporting engineers in management of spoil and general earthworks with a proactive approach to arranging and actioning the movement of soils within and between sites to ensure minimal double handling occurs.
  • Commission and control of demolition and remediation contracts.
  • Liaison with Highway Engineers, Water Authority Engineers, Local Authority officers.
  • Provide assistance in facilitating the ultimate and timely adoption of Road and Sewers.
  • Attending meetings and actioning remedial works and Final Surfacing with sub-Contractors.
  • Daily computer usage, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, AutoCAD printing/plotting and processing of electronic drawing files.
