Role Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mental Health Occupational Therapist (Band 6) to join our team in a community-based role supporting service users in Preston. This locum position requires a qualified and motivated Occupational Therapist with expertise in mental health, ideally with prior experience in Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT). The successful candidate will carry a caseload of service users with diverse occupational needs and provide both therapeutic interventions and key worker support, including risk management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Caseload Management: Carry and manage a caseload of adult service users with varying mental health and occupational therapy needs. Conduct assessments, develop personalized care plans, and provide therapeutic interventions.
  • Key Worker Duties: Serve as a key worker for designated service users, offering mental health support, guidance, and intervention to promote recovery and enhance daily functioning.
  • Risk Assessment and Management: Conduct regular risk assessments for all assigned service users and develop management plans to ensure safety and wellbeing.
  • Collaborative Care: Work collaboratively with CMHT professionals, including psychiatrists, social workers, and support staff, to provide holistic and coordinated care.
  • Occupational Therapy Interventions: Design and implement therapeutic interventions aimed at improving occupational performance, promoting independence, and enhancing overall quality of life.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with NHS policies and professional guidelines.
  • Support and Advocacy: Provide emotional support, advocacy, and resources for service users to aid in their recovery journey and help navigate community resources.
Essential Requirements
  • Qualifications: Degree in Occupational Therapy, with HCPC registration.
  • Experience: Prior experience in mental health, ideally within a CMHT setting.
