Are you looking for a rewarding and challenging role in an educational setting in Preston?Do you have the skills and experience to support and improve attendance and barriers to learning?If so, we would love to hear from you!We are supporting a vibrant and inclusive school in Preston, dedicated to providing a supportive and engaging learning environment for its students, seek a dedicated and proactive School Attendance Officer to join the team on a long term interim basis.As a School Attendance Improvement Officer, you will play a crucial role in promoting and ensuring regular school attendance. You will be responsible for monitoring student attendance, identifying patterns of absenteeism, and working closely with students, parents, staff and outside agencies to address attendance issues and any barriers to learning. This role will also require you to be proactive in making home visits to support the parent community and ensure students can attend school regularly.We are looking for someone for this role with a start after half term on a temporary long term for at least 3 months. A DBS on the update service would be an advantage.Key Responsibilities:- Manage cases causing concern regarding school attendance, by means of correspondence, interviews and home visits.- Contribute to the monitoring/analysis of attendance and persistent absence rates.- Instigate and develop different strategies for pupils recognised as being at risk of poor attendance and/or persistent absence.- Work collaboratively with students, parents, staff and outside agencies.- Assist with tracking of pupils who do not arrive for admission or who go missing during the school year.- Activate requests for penalty notices or other legal proceedings after discussion with school and court officer, preparing and attending hearings as required.- Maintain accurate attendance records and prepare reports as required.- Provide training, advice and guidance as appropriate to staff within the school relating to attendance.- Work in a multi-agency environment and multi-agency teams.- Arrange, chair and produce reports on attendance panel meetings.What you'll need to succeed- Previous experience in a similar role within an educational setting.- Ability to provide clear professional to staff/parents/pupils advice regarding attendance and exclusions.- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.- Excellent organisational and administrative skills.- Access to transport for home visits.- Knowledge of attendance policies and procedures is desirable.What you need to do nowIf you're interested in this attendance improvement officer role based in Preston, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.If this job isn't quite right for you, but you are looking for a new position, please contact us for a confidential discussion on your career.
