Prospero teaching are working with a specialist behaviour provision in Preston Lancashire. The school deals with students with additional needs and mental health issues

The pupils are of primary and secondary age and you will be required to work with the 11-16 years old KS3/4 secondary students at the upper site. All with EHCP plans and additional needs.

The pupils have usually experienced some form of trauma, neglect or chaotic home life or all of these things.

Your role is to build a connection with the young people and act and a mentor and role model for the students.

You must have a strong TA or Tutoring background with students from PRUs or SEMH schools.

Due to the barriers the pupils have in the classroom, the role will entail forging strong relationships with pupils.

The role will see you using lots of mentoring skills (similar to that used in sports, drama, counselling) to help the individual engage with the school.

You will support the pupil in the classroom and out of the classroom on a more vocational basis.

The position is open to all experienced and those who have a strong background in mentoring children and young adults. Depending on performance, the school would look at either extending the contract or offering a permanent position.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience in a similar setting / SEMH/ PRULEVEL 2 Teaching Assistant/or equivalent and above is preferableGCSE Maths and English and Computer literateUp to date safe guarding training in the last 12 months (essential, training can be provided)Up to date prevent awareness & FGM training issued in the last 3 years (essential, training can be provided)Up to date behaviour management (training can be provided)
