What you'll be doing:
- Managing a team of Manufacturing Plant and Equipment buyers
- Contributing to the determination of procurement strategy, implement plans and actions for areas of responsibility such that the strategy is realised
- Delivering effective management and leadership to the assigned procurement team, creating the environment for the team to succeed
- Delivering and measuring performance improvement (people/process/suppliers/contract/toolsets)
- Contributing to the development of procurement strategy, policy and processes for the defined area of responsibility
- Ensuring that supplier and sourcing reviews are carried out, suppliers are monitored and managed and where appropriate alternative sources are identified that are to the further benefit of the business
- Ensuring technical support and co-ordination throughout the end-to-end procurement process such that customer and suppler issues are communicated and resolved effectively
- Ensuring procurement input into the bidding activity such that the budget is met consistent with business objectives
- Contributing to the IPS strategic direction and delivery of objectives
Essential:
- An understanding of business and procurement approaches, techniques, processes, policy and strategy
- Experience of procurement for major capital equipment projects ideally within a manufacturing environment
- Proven experience working within a procurement role, ideally within an indirect spend category
- An understanding of how procurement activity is organised and integrates into the business or function, requires commercial awareness and procurement skills
- Experience of contract and supplier performance management
Desirable:
- Degree qualified in a business subject area or equivalent procurement / supply chain accreditations (MCIPS, RICS, IAPPM)
- Experience of managing a team of procurement professionals
- Construction contracting
