An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Service – Carers to join a fantastic charity who provide hope and a sense of purpose, through the provision of Carers, Advocacy, Wellbeing, Counselling and Volunteering Services.

Salary:  £45,449

Location: North of England (HQ is in Preston/hybrid working arrangements/regional & national travel as required)

As Head of Service, you will hold full responsibility for the delivery and development of the charity’s Carers Services portfolio, with an unwavering commitment to ensuring high-quality service delivery and satisfaction among carers, commissioners, and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the performance of contracts, quality delivery and achievement of outcomes ensuring high levels of carer, commissioner, stakeholder, and staff satisfaction.
  • Working closely with the Services Director and the Business Development team to expand the contract portfolio through effective business development efforts.
  • Direct line management, leadership, and coaching of several Service Managers located across the North of England.
  • Creating and overseeing the implementation of service specific development plans resulting from feedback, impact monitoring, legislation/best practice guidance and charity wide developments so ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Leading the mobilisation of new services in line with a clear project plan working closely with the wider Central Services Team and Service Director.
  • Acing as the organisations deputy professional lead for safeguarding in line with the charity’s safeguarding policies and procedures.

 The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years relevant service management experience including staff management, supervision, and support and will be experienced in setting and managing budgets, and in developing relationships with commissioners and key stakeholders. You will be an experienced, confident, resilient, and inspiring senior manager, possessing strong leadership and communication skills, along with the ability to coach, manage, and develop high-performing teams.
