The Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Full Time Tutor to join our dedicated support team. You will play a crucial role in providing targeted academic intervention and support to students across Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9). This role will involve working closely with students on an individual and small group basis to help them bridge learning gaps, build confidence, and achieve their full academic potential within the secondary school setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective tutoring sessions in core subjects (Maths, English, Science) tailored to the specific needs of KS2 and KS3 students.
- Assess students' learning levels, identify areas requiring support, and set clear, achievable learning objectives.
- Utilise a variety of teaching strategies and resources to cater to different learning styles and ensure effective learning.
- Provide constructive feedback to students and track their progress, adapting tutoring methods as needed.
- Work collaboratively with classroom teachers and the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to align tutoring with the curriculum and individual student learning plans.
- Create a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement and fosters a love of learning.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.
- Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions, student attendance, and progress.
- Adhere to all school policies, including safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Participate in relevant professional development opportunities.
About You:
- Proven experience as a tutor, learning support assistant, or teacher, specifically working with students in Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3.
- Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum for Key Stages 2 and 3, particularly in core subjects.
- Excellent subject knowledge and the ability to explain concepts clearly and concisely.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- Patience, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to individual student needs.
- A genuine passion for supporting student progress and development.
- A relevant teaching qualification (QTS/QTLS), tutoring qualification, or a degree in a relevant subject is highly desirable.
Desirable:
- Experience working within a secondary school setting.
- Experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Familiarity with different assessment methods and strategies for tracking student progress.
- Experience delivering small group interventions.
- A valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate on the update service.

Contract Type: Full Time
Salary: £35 - £50 per hour. Full time.
