Our client, an established defence manufacturing firm, are seeking experienced Buyers to join them. This is the perfect role for a Senior Buyer with manufacturing industry & procurement experience to take a step up and make an impact in a new team!

What the role of the Manufacturing Buyer entails:

Some of the main duties of the Manufacturing Buyer will include:

  • Providing support to sourcing and procurement activities, supporting strategic procurement initiatives and negotiating on projects across multiple business units
  • Taking a lead role in the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, from sourcing to contract negotiation / execution and ongoing Supplier Performance and Relationship Management
  • Conducting and participating in market reviews with the supply chain to identify innovation and CI
  • Driving the commodity/manufacturing capability strategy throughout the business.
  • Providing challenge into the conventional way of thinking and procuring, in order to develop innovative contracting solutions
  • Managing and influencing internal stakeholders across the business

What experience you need to be the successful Manufacturing Buyer:

Essential

  • Demonstrable track record of Manufacturing Procurement / Commercial acumen
  • Supplier management experience
  • Multi-site procurement and stakeholder management experience
  • Proven skills of working within a complex supply chain environment such as: manufacturing, large retailers, oil & gas, aerospace, automotive, nuclear etc.
  • Experience of buying heavy plant machinery and equipment specifically within a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of negotiating complex international framework agreements.
  • Flexibility to travel internationally (frequency and volume of travel to be determined)

Desirable:

  • Category management experience
  • Passion for driving and implementing change
  • CIPs qualified
