Tradewind Recruitment are working closely with a Secondary Alternative Provision school in Preston, who are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and dedicated candidate to join the school as a Behaviour and Pupil Support Worker.

The successful applicant will assist the development of a school-wide approach to behaviour, in a setting which provides full time education for up to 125 SEMH pupils who are not able to access mainstream education. As part of this Behaviour and Pupil Support Worker role, you will work closely with the Pupil Support Manager to deliver and develop strategies to improve behaviour of SEMH pupils.

The school follow an inclusive philosophy and believe passionately in ensuring that all pupils are given the opportunities, skills, knowledge and qualifications to allow them to reintegrate back into mainstream education or on to specialist provision, further education employment or training.

The school recognise that their pupils are individuals and that 'one size doesn't fit all'. They understand too that many of their pupils have not previously had a positive experience of education and believe it is their role to re-engage them with learning, improve relationships and broaden opportunities available to them. The personal relationships developed with their pupils allows each one to achieve their potential academically, and personally too.

To be successful in this Behaviour and Pupil Support Worker role, you will need to:

  • Have knowledge and understanding of working with challenging behaviour
  • Hold Level 2 Numeracy and Level 2 Literacy or GCSE equivalent
  • Be subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure - or hold a DBS currently subscribed to DBS Update Service
  • Provide overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and undergo professional reference checks
  • Ensure your CV covers all employment and education since leaving secondary school
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK
  • It is also desirable that you hold a relevant Level 3 qualification, and have had experience of following safeguarding procedures in an educational setting.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
