JOB TITLE - Outreach Worker

Prospero Teaching, a leading teaching recruitment agency, is seeking an enthusiastic outreach worker.

The school is for young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues that are struggling to access the mainstream curriculum.

In this role, you will be required to take attendance in the mornings, and liaise with parents over absences. You will then need to go and do some support work in the community. You will need to be comfortable liaising with social services and other parties to best support the young people.

You should be confident in behaviour management techniques and deescalation strategies in order to manage the young peoples behaviour and help them to engage with the curriculum.

All the young people that you will be working with will have an education and health care plan (EHCP) which you will be able to refer to.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience working as an Outreach Worker or in a similar role.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students, parents and staff.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children.
  • Strong understanding of child development.
  • Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (desirable however not essential)

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child related references that cover the last two years
