Job Description:

We are looking for a caring and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join our Year 6 team at a primary school in Preston. This is a part-time role, working afternoons only, supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) to help them succeed in their learning and transition to secondary school.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide targeted support to Year 6 students with SEN during afternoon lessons.
  • Work 1:1 or in small groups with pupils who require additional assistance, adapting learning resources to meet individual needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in creating an inclusive learning environment.
  • Contribute to the implementation and monitoring of individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Encourage positive behavior and engagement in learning.
  • Support with emotional and social development, as well as academic progress.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, ideally with a focus on SEN.
  • A relevant qualification in supporting teaching and learning (desirable but not essential).
  • Experience working with students with SEN, including autism, ADHD, or speech and language difficulties.
  • Patience, understanding, and a commitment to supporting students' development.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).
