Garment Technologist & Pattern Grader

About this Garment Tech Role

As a Garment Technologist & Pattern Grader, you will use your technical expertise and creative flair to:

  • Grade patterns and create/adapt blocks from scratch.
  • Work from customer drawings to produce production-ready patterns.
  • Convert patterns between CAD systems while maintaining accuracy.
  • Rework historical patterns and ensure consistency across grading systems.
  • Conduct customer fit sessions and provide advice on garment sizing.
  • Collaborate with design, production, and factory teams to ensure designs balance creativity with commercial viability.
  • Stay ahead of trends by working at pace to explore new materials and future opportunities.


Garment Tech Key Responsibilities

  • Grading and creating patterns using CAD software and manual techniques.
  • Translating customer specifications into precise, production-ready patterns.
  • Supporting the design team with creative input for drawings and embellishment designs (training provided).
  • Ensuring all designs are fit for purpose with detailed product documentation.
  • Working closely with the factory manager to ensure seamless sample production and garment testing.


What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who combines technical expertise with a creative mindset. Key skills and qualifications include:

  • A degree in a design-related field (e.g., Fashion, Textiles).
  • 3+ years' experience in a similar role, ideally in garment technology or design.
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, fit, and function.
  • Proficiency in CAD pattern software and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • Ideally experienced with VeitiGraph expert CAD and / or Assyst digital pattern cutting software.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • A detail-oriented approach and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • A collaborative, team-focused attitude and the confidence to take initiative.
