Job Title: Support Worker Learning Disabilities
Location: Tranent, East Lothian
Contract: 12 weeks temporary with potential permanent opportunity thereafter
Pay: £16.95p/h
About the Role:
21 Health and Social Care is looking for compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to join a learning disability service based in Tranent. This is a fantastic opportunity to support individuals with learning disabilities in achieving greater independence and enhancing their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Personalised Support: Assist individuals with learning disabilities in their day-to-day activities, including personal care, meal preparation, medication management, and household tasks.
- Promoting Independence: Encourage and support service users in developing life skills such as budgeting, cooking, and accessing community resources.
- Emotional and Social Support: Build trusting relationships with service users, providing emotional support, and encouraging social interactions and participation in activities.
- Care Planning: Work closely with the team to develop, implement, and review personalised care plans tailored to each individuals needs and aspirations.
Requirements:
- Experience: Previous experience in a similar role within the health and social care sector is desirable, but not essential.
- Compassionate and Patient: A genuine passion for supporting individuals with learning disabilities and the ability to remain patient and calm in challenging situations.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to connect effectively with service users, families, and colleagues.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work a range of shifts, including evenings, weekends.
- Desirable Qualifications: SVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care, or a willingness to work towards this qualification.
