You will be responsible for managing the purchasing process including negotiation, ensuring purchase order accuracy, maximising value effectiveness and keeping up to date with current and future product trends.This role requires regular travel and over stays in South Yorkshire.Responsibilities:• Develop and implement a robust procurement strategy to meet business objectives, ensuring cost savings, quality standards, and supplier performance targets are met.• Use commercial insight to drive cost efficiency while ensuring quality and delivery timelines are met, contributing to the overall profitability of the business.• Lead complex contract negotiations with suppliers, ensuring the best terms in pricing, quality, delivery, and service levels are achieved.• Provide leadership and direction to the procurement team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.• Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts, terms, and pricing to secure the best possible outcomes for the company.• Regularly visit supplier sites and factories, particularly in Scotland and Sheffield, hands-on to support team and operations, negotiate agreements, and ensure alignment with company standards.• Identify and mitigate potential risks in the supply chain, ensuring continuity of supply and managing any challenges that arise. • Monitor and manage the procurement budget, delivering cost savings and adhering to financial goals. • Liaise with Production, Engineering and Finance departments. • Support new projects/processes and the transition to steady state manufacture. • Recruitment and training of staff, appraisal of employee performance and responsibility for disciplinary issues Ideal Candidate:• 5-7 years’ experience in a purchasing or procurement role, preferably within a project-based manufacturing or technical environment.• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and supply chain management, ideally gained from a technical or engineering background.• Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field is preferred.
