Engagement Support Worker

Role Overview:

PK Education is currently seeking an enthusiastic, resilient, and patient Engagement Support Worker for a primary school near Pudsey. This rewarding role will see you working 1:1 with KS2 pupils who are facing challenges related to ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) issues, and trauma attachment. The children may display challenging verbal behaviour, disobedience, and disengagement. You will play a vital role in helping them develop positive relationships with peers and engage in their learning.

We are looking for someone who can bring creativity, patience, and a proactive approach to their support, developing positive reinforcement techniques to keep students motivated and engaged.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support for KS2 pupils facing challenges with ADHD, SEND, SEMH issues, and trauma attachment.
  • Foster positive relationships and encourage engagement in lessons.
  • Manage challenging behaviour, both verbal and physical, with empathy and patience.
  • Develop creative strategies to reinforce positive behaviour and learning.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to ensure continuity of support across the school day.
  • Offer emotional and social support to students, helping them to build resilience and confidence.

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children, particularly those with ADHD, SEND, SEMH, or trauma attachment, is essential.
  • Strong knowledge and awareness of the primary curriculum, particularly KS2 is highly desirable.
  • A resilient, patient, and proactive approach to managing challenging behaviour.
  • Ability to create a supportive, positive environment for students.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and students.
  • Empathy and understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable pupils.

Hours & Duration:

  • Full and part-time hours considered.
  • Long-term role, starting immediately and running through to Easter, with the possibility of extending until July.
