### Key Responsibilities:

- Demonstrate innovative design skills in electro-mechanical mechanisms and precision machinery.
- Act as the technical lead within a small, mixed-discipline project design team, delivering quality design solutions within cost, time, and quality constraints.
- Lead the creation of designs in 3D CAD using SolidWorks software.
- Collaborate with the team to perform classical engineering analysis on designs, including stress, fatigue, and vibration, using both conventional methods and computer simulations.
- Conduct lab testing to verify and ensure design outputs meet the required design inputs.
- Lead and develop engineering reports to support new product designs, failure investigations, and other formal documentation to fulfill customer requirements.
- Work closely with wider engineering teams to integrate electronic, control, and drive systems into equipment designs.
- Provide support for production, testing, and field engineering teams, as well as assist sales teams with bids and quotations.
- Work alongside project managers and sales teams to provide time estimates for design activities and track progress.
- Assist the Sales Team in preparing proposals, quotations, and sales literature.
- Take responsibility for the timely delivery of project outputs within defined deadlines.

### Skills & Experience

**Essential**
- Experience in designing complex mechanisms and structures.
- Proven ability to design systems from original concept to production, taking a lead role.
- Expertise in analyzing loads and designing solutions for drive mechanisms and motor systems.
- Understanding of machining, casting, fabrication, and moulding techniques.
- Experience with 3D CAD systems (ideally SolidWorks).
- Strong grasp of the technical aspects of the work and related activities.
- Ability to lead a project design team, manage workload, and oversee design outputs.

**Desirable**
- Experience in designing for harsh environments.
- Background in Defence or related sectors, particularly in R&D and manufacturing, such as scientific equipment, special-purpose machinery, or high-end customization.
- Experience in coaching and talent development within a team.
- Previous experience in a senior-level role, preferably within a small or medium-sized company.

- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to produce reports and participate in formal design reviews.
